Skin Cancer in California

Demonstrating skin checks for early detection of melanoma

Project Background

Early detection of melanoma increases a person's chance of successful treatment. This public health research project aimed to communicate that melanoma can affect anyone, even if they have darker skin. The research team asked us to produce video and print content to support the work of community health promoters.

Our Work

We produced content that was repeated in both video and print format to help community health promoters educate the public in rural California regions about skin cancer risk and early detection. Our materials combined photographs and illustrations to help people know what to look for. We also developed a step-by-step visual modeling of how to do a skin self-exam.
