What are vaccines?
Helping families understand childhood immunizations
Project Background
Many parents seeking vaccine information have similar questions. As a parent-led nonprofit organization, Boost Oregon asked us to help them answer the most common questions. They wanted to provide science-based information to reach families who did not attend their community workshops.
Our Work
We developed animations that use humor and metaphor to explain how vaccines work. The story depicts an immature system character who is trained by a vaccine coach to acquire various skills to defeat specific dangerous germs. Our visual metaphors answer questions about timing, quantity, adjuvants, and costs. The entire project is framed by the understanding that parents want to make choices to protect and care for their children.
