Simplifying informed consent information
Project Background
Consent documents are typically very long and difficult to read. New guidelines recommend giving participants key information to quickly understand the purpose, risks, and benefits of a study. Researchers asked us to help them communicate the main points of a new study comparing treatments for pulmonary exacerbations.
Our Work
We developed an interactive consent tool with clear text, original artwork, and simple navigation. The tool is designed to facilitate a conversation between research coordinators and potential study participants.
Results
The tool is produced in English and Spanish. It is currently being used in Standardizing Treatments for Pulmonary Exacerbations (STOP360) study.
