Blood Tests

Explaining why blood samples are needed in a research study

Project Background

The NIH supports a longitudinal cohort study of children who were born with HIV. Participation in the research requires children to travel to the clinic multiple times for blood tests. The communication leadership asked us to help them explain the purpose and value of the blood tests to encourage families to take time out of their busy lives to make repeat visits to the clinic.

Our Work

We created a visual metaphor of a celebrity blood droplet character that has humble origins but achieves global fame by contributing to research. It is a variation of the volunteers as hero idea but with a kid-friendly spin.
