Premature Family Decisions
Helping families think about decisions
Project Background
When a baby is born very premature, a family faces difficult medical decisions. It can be hard to understand the potential future experiences for the child and the family. A team of neonatologists asked us to design a tool to help parents think about these decisions.
Our Work
We developed an interactive tool with characters, illustrations, and audio to help families see a range of potential futures based on their decisions. Original artwork and voice acting from professional performers give life to the stories, which are based on the experiences of real families.
Results
The tool is available in English and Spanish. It is currently being studied at an academic medical setting.
